Gas Generator problems. Can you help. Do you know the answer?

We have a Generac brand gas generator. When we start it, it will only stay started for about 10 seconds. What could it be? The battery is ok and the oil is ok.

1. More than likely it's a clogged idle circuit in the carb from sitting.You could try getting a can of Sea Foam and adding it to the gas.Also spray some gum out in the throat of the carb and make sure the air cleaner is clean.If none of that works it will probably require the carb disassembled for cleaning the juets and idle passages.
2. Assuming you are disengaging the carburator choke after the engine starts, I would check the oil level again. If you left old gas in it over the winter you may have gummed up the carburator.
