what can run on a 2000 watt emergency power generator?
I am looking at portable power generators. Would like to know would run a 2000 watt portable power generator. I would like to run a refrigerator, some lights, radio, and maybe a TV in case of power failure

- It could work. Getting a refrigerator to crank up from a generator could require up to 1200 watts, but after it's started, it runs with only 300 or 400 watts. Check out the list at this Honda website.
- Add up the power consumed by the devices you want to run in watts (ie... 75W light bulb= 75 watts of power). Be aware that when an electrical device is powered up initially, the "start-up" surge can be up to 5X the "running" wattage ( example: Ever notice that your lights dim or flicker when your refrigerator started or the Air Conditioner started?) Add all the wattages up and multiply by two so that you do not overload your generator and burn it out. Good Luck!
- You should have enough power to run what you are looking to run. Here is a good site that can help you: http://www.briggsandstratton.com/display/router.asp?docid=76390
