Portable Generator For Sale

I need to see a picture of a canopy like structure to use over a gas generator to protect it from rain?

i purchased a gas generator during the Oct 13 storm that hit buffalo, NY. However, I need to burild a canopy, as recommended by OSHA and Red Cross so I can use it when it rains or snows. I have to have a five foot clearance all around and I will use it on my wooden back deck.

  1. I found me a large dog house to use. it is much better.
  2. Five foot clearance all around seems rather excessive. On the other extreme, during winter Generac suggests using the cardboard shipping carton with one side removed as a shelter to help prevent the carburetor from freezing up. There is a picture on page 8 of the manual, available here... http://members.rennlist.org/warren/9885_3.pdf I've seen others using small plastic storage sheds for their generators, some have built wooden enclosures. My hope was to put together a collapsable shelter which could be easily assembled during rain. However in four years it's never really been an issue and nothing has been built. Whatever you decide, consider some method of securing our generator against theft. As you can imagine, its value increases considerably during power outages.
