1. Kohler in the larger, (whole house), sizes. (Buy the generator and transfer switch as a package and avoid 'compatability and connectivity' issues.)
2. I'm pleased with my Briggs & Stratton 5500 watt portable generator. Prior to this one I had a Generac generator. Generac is now part of B&S. Tecumseh isn't manufacturing engines any more.
