How does a electric generator work?

I need to know how an electric generator work. I know that you need coper and a magnet. You then need to move the magnet across from a distance of the coper coil to generate electricity. I need to know more details.

2. You have explained it basically yourself. To go into more detail on the theory of magnetic fields and how actually electron flow occurs is a massive subject. I understand some of it but am still happy to accept that an electric current is produced when a wire passes through a magnetic field
