Where can I find a program to start a generator in case of an emergency power failure?
I'm looking for a computer program that will automatically start a generator during a power outage.

- You don't need a computer program. A relay with a normally closed contact with its coil on the power line will provide a closed contact to start the generator.
- It depends on how sophisticated you want to get. Normally we use both under/over voltage and frequency relays along with a timer (to eliminate nusient engine starting) PLC's are a good way to accomplish this but they do require perhifials such as pilot relays. (Please overlook the spelling) They also make a packaged unit built by companies such as Kilopax and ECU. Pretty simple stuff.
- You don't need a program, you need a Generac. Their systems automatically start, transfer and pick up the load after about a minute. It's a pure luxury, and I love mine.
